BADGER STATE TRAIL
ATV’s are allowed from Lake Avenue in Monticello down to 21st Street in Monroe under the following conditions.
- From December 1 to March 15
- There is less than 4 inches of snow; or the trail has not been groomed for snowmobiles.
- Air Temperature is under 28 degrees F.
- Trail surface is frozen solid.
- ATV has a current valid registration sticker.
ATV’s are required to slow to 10 mph and yield the right of way when within 100 feet of any person not on an ATV. For the most up-to-date conditions please call the Green County Trail Information Line: (608) 527-2910.

I suppose it was just a matter of time before this happened: The cross-breeding of a snow-mobile and an ATV to produce the Sand-X T-ATV. This interest-ing concept provides an extremely stable and quick mode of transportation that’s safer than you might think.
As you might expect, there’s a lot of sand in some parts of the world, including places like the United Arab Emirates (UAE). With that in mind, you might also expect to see some very innovative ideas come about when it comes to solving problems with travel-ing across endless sand dunes.
The Sand-X Tracked ATV is just such an idea. The front half is your typical sport quad, while the back half is your typical snow-mobile, track and all. Oh, and there’s a Rotax engine stuffed in there too, making it quicker than most exotic sports cars.
The Sand-X is also very safe. Like a go-kart, it’s very difficult (impossible?) to flip over unless you hit something or leave the ground. The track does not require ground clearance, so the center of gravity is much lower than a normal quad.
